Believing.

One of the benefits of being a child is the susceptibility to influence. When new ideas are suggested, they’re most often welcomed without much judgement. If the idea brings about confusion in the mind of the child, it’s often met with probing questions until the idea makes sense to them. This acceptance goes on until finally one day an idea is introduced that conflicts with one previously introduced. Simple.

A conflicting idea may or may not get rejected. In the case of rejection, the conflicting idea will be labelled as something along the lines of wrong, faulty or simply not as good as the existing one. Should it however be accepted, because it’s credited with a certain amount of merit, the new idea takes the place of the old idea.

But the old idea mustn’t necessarily be proved useless by the new one taking its place. It may simply be the case that the new idea appears to be more appealing and make more sense than the old one.

When this is the case the concepts of the old idea may live on in the mind and may maintain a certain amount of influence on the interpretation of new, accepted, ideas. Thus, whatever conflicting idea was introduced, its been accepted in an ever so slightly altered way since it’s passed through the filter of the old one.

There are many of us out there experiencing certain unrest. Plagued by the idea or feeling that there is something else to be experienced, that there is something more to life.

This propels many of us into action. We try new things. We go to new places. We meet new people. Others contain the feeling and stay put in their situation. Neither option is necessarily more right than the other.

The feeling of unrest, however, often leads both types of people into exploring the different ways, different perspectives or lenses, paradigms if you will, through which one can view the world. Religion, science, spirituality, personal experiences or even “how to become successful” guides. All of the above, and many more, are readily available to provide input and influence us on how we are to experience the world.

Yet we discard so many of them as soon as we find a flaw or an idea that we cannot subscribe to. Because it appears we need to accept the paradigm provided in it’s entirety, rather than an altered version of it where we accept what we feel is right and discard what we disapprove of. This may lead to a sense of being lost on your path to something more. Because your path to something more is likely a way to find a reality, a way to experience the world, that you can believe in. Where you can allow yourself to just be.

You could, instead, choose to accept exactly what makes sense to you. The idea that inherently feels right and makes sense and leave the rest of the paradigm alone as you move on to the next one. Just as you did as a child. Allow your feelings to guide you and therefore work as your inner compass on your way to creating your own reality and you’ll be enriched by the ideas you find in different paradigms through your exploration journey, which is a great way to set the stage for a wonderful life. Because as you do, you create your own reality and a paradigm through which you’re comfortable to view and experience the world.

There is no cheat sheet with all the answers on what’s right and wrong in life. Science is only true until it’s been disproved by other science and religion is only true until you become aware of that there are other religions claiming the truths.

Dare to believe in your feelings and that you know what’s right for you.
